Useful For

Urinalysis measurements are used to aid in the detection of albumin and glucose in the urine.

Specimen Requirements

  1. First morning clean-catch urine is optimal. Fresh, random specimen and catheter urine specimen also acceptable.
  2. Optimal volume is 12mL. Minimum volume is 1mL. 
  3. Collect in sterile collection cup or UA Preservative Transport Tube (see Specimen Stability below)
  4. Avoid contamination of specimen with soap, feces, oil, or powder.
  5. Label collection container with patient full name, medical record number, date of birth. Include date and time of collection and source of specimen.

Rejection Criteria

Any specimen that does not adhere to specimen requirements listed above will be rejected.
