Useful For
Urinalysis measurements are used to aid in the detection of albumin and glucose in the urine.
Specimen Requirements
- First morning clean-catch urine is optimal. Fresh, random specimen and catheter urine specimen also acceptable.
- Optimal volume is 12mL. Minimum volume is 1mL.
- Collect in sterile collection cup or UA Preservative Transport Tube (see Specimen Stability below)
- Avoid contamination of specimen with soap, feces, oil, or powder.
- Label collection container with patient full name, medical record number, date of birth. Include date and time of collection and source of specimen.
