Order Code LABHIVG HIV-1 / HIV-2 Antibody/Antigen, Plasma

Useful For

Screening for HIV-1 and/or HIV-2 infection in nonsymptomatic patients.  This test is an immunoassay for the simultaneous qualitative detection of human immunodeficiency virus p24 antigen and antibodies to human immunodeficiency viruses type 1 (including group "O") and type 2, in serum using the ADVIA Centaur.  CHIV asay is intended to be used as an aid in the diagnosis of HIV infection in pediatric and adult populations, including pregnant women.

Specimen Requirements

Special Note: Plasma must be separated from cells within 4 hours of collection.

Preferred:  Plasma EDTA, pink top

Acceptable: Plasma EDTA, purple top

Specimen Volume: 3 mL

Minimum Volume: 2.5 mL (includes reflex minimum volume)

Reference Value: Negative

 

Reflex Testing: Reactive or pesumptive positive patient specimens will automatically reflex to RMC code: LABHVDIP or Mayo code: HVDIP for confirmatory testing.
