Order Code LABTVMDU Trichomonas vaginalis by Molecular Detection, Urine
Useful For
Useful for detecting Trichomonas vaginalis in voided urine.
Specimen Requirements
Collection Container: Sterile urine cup
Specimen: First-catch (dirty) urine only
Minimum Volume: 2 mL
Maximum Volume: 30 mL
Collection Instructions:
1. Patients should refrain from urinating 1 hour prior to collection.
2. Direct patient to provide a first-catch urine (approximately 20 mL to 30 mL of the initial urine stream) into a urine collection cup free of any preservatives. Collection of larger volumes of urine may result in specimen dilution that may reduce test sensitivity; lesser volumes may not adequately rinse organisms into the specimen.
3. Transport specimen to laboratory.
4. Laboratory staff will aliquot urine to the Cepheid Xpert Urine Specimen Collection Kit using a pipette provided in collection kit. (Only if specimen is within stability requirements)
Specimen Transport Supplies: GeneXpert Urine Specimen Collection Kit
