Order Code LABVAGPR Vaginitis Panel by Molecular Detection

Useful For

Intended to aid in the diagnosis of vaginal infections in women with a clinical presentation consistent with bacterial vaginosis, vulvovaginal candidiasis, or trichomoniasis.

The GeneXpert Xpress MVP assay detects but does not differentiate between the following bacteria associated with bacterial vaginosis: Atopobium species (Atopobium vaginae, Atopobium novel species CCUG 55226), Bacterial Vaginosis-Associated Bacterium 2 (BVAB2), and Megasphaera-1.
This assay also detects but does not differentiate between the following Candida species: C. albicans, C. tropicalis, C. parapsilosis, C. dubliniensis. Candida glabrata/Candida krusei species are not differentiated.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: GeneXpert Swab
Supplies: GeneXpert Swab Specimen Collection Kit

Collection Instructions:
1.    Open collection kit that contains the pink-capped GeneXpert Swab Transport Reagent tube and individually wrapped collection swab.
2.    Remove the swab, taking care not to touch the tip or lay it down.
3.    Gently rotate the swab for 10 – 30 seconds. Ensure the swab touches the walls of the vagina so that moisture is absorbed by the swab.
4.    Open transport tube. Identifying the scoreline on the collection swab shaft, carefully break the swab shaft against the side of the tube at the scoreline.
5.    Re-cap the transport tube and tighten the cap securely.
