Specimen Requirements
Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
Serum
Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube or a serum gel tube. Spin down and send 1 mL (minimum volume: 0.6 mL) of serum refrigerated.
Note: 1. Call MEDTOX to let them know specimen is coming.
2. Indicate serum on request form.
3. Label specimen appropriately (serum).
Plasma
Draw blood in a green-top (heparin) tube. Spin down and send 1 mL (minimum volume: 0.6 mL) of heparinized plasma refrigerated.
Note: 1. Call MEDTOX to let them know specimen is coming.
2. Indicate plasma on request form.
3. Label specimen appropriately (plasma).
Reference Values
Reporting limit: 0.5 µg/mL
Reference range: 8.0-20.0 µg/mL
Critical value (automatic call-back): 30.0 µg/mL
