Patient's age and sex are required.
Specimen Required
Supplies: Sarstedt Aliquot Tube, 5 mL (T914)
Collection Container/Tube:
Preferred: Lavender top (EDTA)
Acceptable: Green top (sodium or lithium heparin)
Submission Container/Tube: Plastic vial
Specimen Volume: 1 mL
Collection Instructions:
1. Immediately place specimen on ice.
2. Within 4 hours of collection, centrifuge and aliquot plasma into plastic vial.
3. If blood cannot be placed on wet ice immediately, centrifuge and aliquot plasma into plastic vial within 1 hour of collection.
4. A refrigerated centrifuge is not required if the above time restrictions are met.
