Useful For

Verifying carbon monoxide toxicity in cases of suspected exposure.

Specimen Requirements

Special Note: Specimen must arrive within 3 hours of draw.  Draw a full, dark green-top (lithium heparin) tube. Allow tube to fill completely. Do not uncap tube once specimen has been drawn.  Tube should be transported directly to laboratory.

 

Specimen Type: Whole Blood

Collection Container/Tube: dark green-top (lithium or sodium heparin) tube

Preferred: Dark green Lithium Heparin
