Special Note: Morning (8 a.m.) and afternoon (4 p.m.) specimens are preferred. If multiple specimens are drawn, send separate order for each specimen.

Reference Values
- Before 10am: 4.45 - 22.7 ug/dL
- After 5pm: 1.7 - 14.1 ug/dL
- 10:01am-4:59pm: No established reference range
Specimens with biotin concentrations up to 40 ng/mL demonstrated a less than or equal to 10% change in results. Serum biotin concentrations >40 ng/mL may falsely elevate Cortisol results.
For diagnostic purposes, the results should always be assessed in conjunction with the patient's medical history, clinical examination, and other findings.
