In males testosterone measurement is used to investigate sexual dysfunction.
In females elevated concentration may indicate polycycstic ovaraian syndrome among other conditions.
Clinical symptoms of testosterone excess in females include infertility, amenorrhea, obesity, and hirsutism.

Specimens with biotin concentrations less than 10ng/mL demonstrated a less than or equal to 10% change in results. Specimens with various biotin concentrations interfere with the VITROS Testosterone test resulting in a bias as shown in the table below.
