Specimen Requirements

Special Note: Specimen cannot be collected offsite (clinics). Do not uncap tube once specimen has been drawn.

Container/Collection Tube:  Heparin Syringe or Dark Green Tube(no gel - sodium heparin

Preferred: Dark green-top (lithium heparin) tube or Heparin Syringe, NOT on ice

Acceptable: Dark green-top (lithium heparin) tube or Heparin Syringe, on ice

Specimen Volume: 1 mL

Minumim (Pedatric) Volume: 200 uL

 

 

Specimen Stability

RMC/TTMC: Transport specimen ASAP to laboratory, Maximum Stability: 30 minutes

RSMC/RLSH: Transport ambient specimen ASAP to laboratory, Maximum Stability: 10 minutes
