Useful For

Diagnosis and treatment of digoxin overdose and in monitoring levels of digoxin to ensure appropriate therapy.

Specimen Requirements

Special Note: Centrifuge specimens and remove the serum from the cellular material within 4 hours of collection.

Digoxin specimens should be drawn at least six to eight hours after the last dose. If toxicity is suspected, specimens may be drawn at any time.

Preferred: Plain, red-top tube (SST unacceptable)

Specimen Volume: 2 mL

Pediatric (minimum) volume: 0.5 mL in a red top MICROTAINER tube
