Useful For

Used in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions which are characterized by increased amounts of lactate in cord blood. 

Specimen Requirements

Special Note: Collect specimen in a heparinized syringe. Remove needle and cap to prevent exposure to air. Immediately send to laboratory. 

 

Specimen Type: Heparinized syringe

Collection Container/Tube:

Preferred: Heparinized syringe, NOT on ice

Acceptable: Heparinized syringe, on ice

Specimen Volume: 1 mL

Specimen Stability

Special Note:  Transport ASAP to laboratory.  Centrifuge and remove the plasma from the cellular material wihtin 15 minutes of collection.
