Useful For

This test detects KPC, NDM, VIM, IMP, OXA-23, OXA-24, OXA-48, and OXA-58 gene sequences associated with carbapenem-resistant organisms (CRO).CRO testing is used as an aid in infection control in the detection of CRO that colonize patients in health care settings and is not intended to guide or monitor treatment for CRO bacterial infections.
 

Specimen Requirements

Specimens:
Rectal source (Copan dual swab collection kit or equivalent), Wound or skin axilla and groin composite source (Eswab), Sputum, Stool.

Transport/Stability:

Store and ship at ambient (8°C to 25°C) or refrigerated (2°C to 8°C) temperature.

If Carbapenemase PCR, CarbaR - Specimen testing is also ordered on the same rectal swab, store and ship at ambient (8°C to 25°C) temperature within 5 days of collection.
