Useful For
To detect pathogenic organisms in genital specimens.
Specimen Requirements
Swab of vagina or endocervix collected as follows:
- Do not use lubricant on speculum.
- Clean cervix with sterile swab.
- Induce flow of endocervical exudate from endocervical glands.
- Collect exudate by pressing Eswab (see instructions below) on cervix to express exudate from endocervical glands.
- Label specimen with patient’s name, date of birth or hospital medical record number, specimen source, date and time of collection, and collector’s initials.
Instructions for Collection Using ESwab:
- Open the ESwab peel pouch
- Remove the FLOQSwab from the pouch
- Collect the sample, making sure fingers are above the red molded breakpoint
- Uncap the ESwab tube
- Place the FLOQSwab in the ESwab tube
- Break the FLOQSwab applicator shaft at the molded, color marked breakpoint, ensuring that fingers are always above the breakpoint
- Recap the ESwab tube
