Useful For

Cryoprecipitated AHF (Factor VIII), also known as cryoprecipitate (cryo) is the cold insoluble portion of plasma processed from fresh frozen plasma. It contains fibrinogen, von Willebrand Factor and Factor XIII and is administered for prevention or treatment of bleeding due to dysfibrinogenemia, hypofibrinogenemia, or von Willebrand's disease (vWD).

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: EDTA

Container/Tube: Whole Blood EDTA

Preferred: Pink-top (EDTA) tube

Acceptable: Purple-top (EDTA) tube

Specimen Volume: 5 mL whole blood

 

Collection instructions: Specimen's must be labeled with patient first and last name, MR# or DOB, date and time drawn, and phlebotomist's initials. Typenex (blue armband) is included on sample when testing is for product issue.
