Specimen Requirements
Please collect/transfer 1 mL of peritoneal or pleural fluid in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube. Invert gently several times to mix fluid.
- Indicate peritoneal or pleural fluid on request form.
- Label specimen with patient’s name, date of birth or hospital medical record number, specimen source, date and time of collection, and collector’s initials.
